After months of work across the GatherPress community, we’re pleased to share GatherPress 0.34.0.

This is one of the largest GatherPress releases so far. It includes major work across event data, RSVP settings, calendar feeds, venues, starter patterns, and WordPress block and template integration. Some of those changes are immediately visible in the interface. Others are deeper architectural updates that make GatherPress more flexible now and give the project a stronger foundation for future releases.

For organizers, this release adds more control over how events are created, displayed, and managed. For developers, it provides a stronger foundation for extending GatherPress in ways that better match real community needs.

A few highlights include:

  • More flexible event structures: Event features like dates, RSVPs, venues, and online links can now be attached to custom content types.
  • New RSVP controls: Site owners can choose where RSVP is enabled, including sitewide, per-event, or disabled entirely.
  • Subscribeable calendar feeds: Attendees can subscribe to live calendars for a site, venue, event type, or topic.
  • Venue improvements: Address autocomplete makes venue setup faster, and a new static map option gives organizers another way to display locations.
  • Starter patterns and better defaults: New patterns and default layouts make it easier to create useful event pages without starting from a blank screen.
  • Quality and security improvements: This release also includes fixes across RSVPs, maps, editor behavior, event listings, permissions, and settings.

Taken together, 0.34.0 is both a practical release and a foundational one: it improves the day-to-day experience now, while opening the door to more flexible event models in the future.

We’ll be sharing more detail about several of these features in upcoming posts, including RSVP controls, calendar subscriptions, venue improvements, and using custom content types with GatherPress.
