Overview of GatherPress
Community is vital to any open source ecosystem. It jumpstarts projects and careers, keeps us encouraged, and helps us move forward together. GatherPress started with the idea that the platform we use to gather should be open too.
GatherPress is a free, open source event management plugin designed by the WordPress community for WordPress and its community. Over several years it has grown into a project built by contributors around the world, used by user groups, book clubs, performing groups, and more.
Today, the WordPress Foundation is building its events platform on GatherPress, and that work is moving quickly. Learn how to get involved here..

Help us shake out 0.34.0-alpha.2 then beta, and come say hi at WCEU
The next GatherPress release is taking shape, and we need your help getting it across the line. 0.34.0-alpha.2 is up, and this is the cycle where we’d love as many eyeballs on it as possible before we cut a beta. Heads up: this is a big one. Among other things, it includes post-type-supports decoupling, server-rendered venue maps, async geocoding, network-wide settings, a restructured Settings API, RSVP mode + Open RSVP, pattern pickers, and the new jetpack-changelogger workflow with tag-driven release automation. A quick catch-up: the 0.33.x releases, and 0.34.0 is on the way
A bit of housekeeping: we missed posting about the 0.33.x releases here on the blog as they went out. Between January and February, we shipped four of them: You can find each release, along with the full changelog and list of contributors, on our GitHub releases page. And the next one is almost here! 0.34.0 is in alpha right now, with a tentative launch the Monday after WCEU. If you’d like to help us shake it out, see our call for testers and/or meet us at WCEU Contributor Day.

Update post on WordPress Community site – May 2025
We just published an Update on the GatherPress project – May 2025 on the Make WordPress Community team site. You can read the advancements, the approach adjustment and the upcoming new real-event test site. Thanks a lot to everyone who participated and gave us their feedback. It helps us bring GatherPress to the WordPress community.
